Succus for North Devon

At the British Air Championships BrauntonTSC/ North Devon Scouts TSC sent a team of five juniors who took part in both Sporter Air Rifle and Precision Air Rifle. Craig Attwood took the junior Sporter Title with Luke Smith in forth and Kirstie Attwood in fifth. In the Junior Mens 10 m Rifle Craig went into the final in third place but drooped to 5th. Kirstie just missed out of the Junior Womens final finishing in 6th Place.

Further excellent results were achieved on the weekend of 28th and 29th March. A team from the the North Devon Scout Rifle Club represented Devon at the National Scout Inter County air rifle Championships, finishing in 2nd place and winning the South West title, beating Avon and Somerset. Libby Johnson was also selected to join the GB Junior Air Pistol Squad bringing to five the members of the club in the Squad.

On Saturday 28th March three members of the club Craig Attwood, Kirstie Attwood and Luke Smith represented the Scout Association in the annual Cadet shoot beating the ATC at 3-P Sporter Air Rifle with Kirstie Attwood finishing in first place setting a new national record and posting a NQS. Craig took second and Luke Smith took third. In the smallbore the scouts again beat the ATC (cadet Champions) with Craig Attwood in the winning team.

Selection for Inter County

Following discussions with the County Shooting advisor North Devon will again supply the team for the inter County Scout Championships at Aldersley at the end of March.

Success for Dean

Dean Bale gained third place at the British Pistol Clubs Winter shoot. This follows on from his recent success in the Air Pistol Proficiency scheme where he gained an Adult Class D.

National Scout Squad places

Following their performances in the National Scout Championships , Libby Johnson and Dean Bale have been asked to join the National Scout Squad. This brings to seven the club members in the various national squads.

Success for North Devon Scouts at Championships

Success for North Devon Scouts at Championships

Fourteen North Devon scouts aged from 11 to 18 and their leaders travelled to Bisley to take part in the National Scout Air rifle championships. The scouts came from the Taw Explorers, 1st North Devon ( Barnstaple) 1st Ilfracombe, 50th North Devon ( Sticklepath) and the 1st Tawstock. Groups

The North Devon District Scout team became the National Scout 3 Positional Air Rifle Champions after a tight battle with Cheshire. The team consisting of Kirstie Attwood, Luke Smith and Craig Attwood who set a new national record.

Not to be outdone Dean Bale from the 1st North Devon took the under 12 Junior National Air-rifle Title. The National 10 Sporter title went to Luke Smith of Taw Explorers narrowly beating Kirstie Attwood from Network into second place on a countback. Kirstie took the Senior 6yd title with Terry Luxton coming 2nd. Craig Attwood who finished 5th in the 10m Precision event took the highest improvement award.

Devon Champion

Kirstie-Anne Attwood of the North Devon Scout TSC became the Devon County Air Rifle Champion at the South West Air-Rifle Championships held at Okehampton finishing as the top lady in third place in A Class with a personal best score of 561.

Not to be outdone younger brother Craig Attwood took both the South West and the Devon Junior Champion title with fellow club member Luke Smith taking both silver medals. Craig took the Class B title and Luke Smith the Class C title.

The Braunton team of Kirstie Attwood, Craig Attwood and Chris Attwood took second place in the South West Team Title only 1 point behind St Austell.

Personnel Bests in 3p at Bisley

Six members of the club took part in the British Open and Combined 3p Championships held at Bisley following the Junior International. All did well and a series of personal bests were archived. The British Sporter Team Manager said that the team were a credit to the scouts and had potential to go far. Well done all
